Senior Legal Counsel – In House

Our client is seeking a well-rounded corporate lawyer to join its GTA-based legal team as Senior Legal Counsel. Reporting to the General Counsel, and working closely with both senior leadership as well as operations managers, your responsibilities will be diverse and varied, including: providing strategic legal advice across business groups; drafting and negotiating a wide range of day-to-day commercial agreements such as supply contracts, NDAs, service agreements, and leases; working with outside counsel on M&A and other transactions; and addressing the broad range of legal issues that arise in an in-house environment. With the company operating in a rapidly changing regulatory space, you will stay abreast of changes to provincial and federal regulations, such as those related to Extended Producer Responsibility, and will play an important role in developing strategic, customer-focused solutions to adapt and respond to those changes.

The ideal candidate brings experience with large P-3, municipal infrastructure, energy, or similar consortium-type of projects, and will assist the company’s Major Projects Committee with responding to RFPs, structuring joint ventures and similar multi-party arrangements, and the negotiation and drafting of related documents such as teaming agreements, EPCs, and construction and operations contracts. This role will suit an active, adaptable, hands-on lawyer with strong business acumen and excellent interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be a generalist with 8 to 12 years of experience gained through a combination of private practice and in-house environments. As this is a broad role, experience with employment law, litigation, commercial real estate development, insurance law, M&A transactions, and/or IT matters would all be assets.
