Do you have strong policy, legislative and economic analysis skills and experience leading policy files? If so, consider joining the Provincial Local Finance Division’s Property Tax Policy team, Ministry of Finance, working on exciting initiatives related to provincial and municipal property tax policy.
What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
• lead and conduct property tax policy research and analysis
• lead and develop strategic policy and legislative options
• provide critical analysis of the fiscal impact of policy options
• prepare briefing notes and present policy advice to senior management
• design, interpret and analyze legislation and regulations
• prepare and present written and oral communications for internal and external audiences
• lead and participate in stakeholder consultations and support ongoing stakeholder relationships

How do I qualify?
Subject Matter Expertise:
- You have knowledge of the property tax and assessment system
- You have experience interpreting legislation and regulations
- You understand government decision-making, policy development and legislative processes
Research, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills and Policy Knowledge:
- You can critically analyze factual information, policy concepts and statistical data, summarize information and solve problems in order to provide strategic policy advice and prepare clear, concise reports on this information
- You have experience developing and leading work on policy options, conducting research, and interpreting complex information
- You have experience with sophisticated economic analysis and data modelling in support of strategic policy options
- You demonstrate political acuity and have the ability to identify potential stakeholder concerns
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- You are able to prepare and present briefing notes that translate complex issues into clear, concise written presentations which support decision-making
- You can work both independently, as part of a team and successfully take on leadership roles
- You can establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, senior management, and stakeholders
- You have negotiation, consultation and stakeholder management skills
Organizational Skills:
- You can plan and carry out projects and consistently meet deadlines
- You are able to manage multiple complex issues
- You can work with minimal supervision
Salary Range: $70,538 – $103,944 per year

- 1 Temporary, duration up to 12 months, 777 Bay St, Toronto, Toronto Region
