Practice Support Lawyer

Miller Thomson LLP is seeking a highly motivated Practice Support Lawyer (PSL) to join our Knowledge Management (KM) team in the Toronto office. Reporting to the National Director, Client Service, the PSL will work in conjunction with our Lawyers to:

• Support the implementation of the firm’s Legal Project Management (LPM) initiative, I3 (Involve, Improve, Innovate)
• Work closely with our legal teams to educate and support the development of matter work plans and associated monitoring of actual to budget using appropriate practice management and LPM tools
• Support our Practice Group Leaders to help define, implement and monitor business development and practice group management goals
• Provide guidance on developing best practices and precedents and identifying where technology can be best applied to drive efficiencies
• Capture, maintain and disseminate the firm’s knowledge and business intelligence resources
• Provide input and support for client pitches and RFP pursuits

The successful candidate will be an experienced lawyer (5 plus years) that is looking for a career path that is focused on client service and driving efficiency in the delivery of legal services. The individual in this role should feel equally rewarded working independently or as a member of various teams of lawyers and support groups across the firm. The candidate must have excellent analytical, organizational, oral and written communications skills. Focus on providing quality service and consistently exceeding client expectations is fundamental. An ability to be flexible with daily activities is also essential. Fluency in French is an asset but not required.
