BJRC Recruiting is working exclusively with Canada’s largest private-sector liquor retailer and cannabis company to fill two Legal Counsel positions for their Toronto and Edmonton offices.

The ideal candidate will be a bright Corporate/Commercial lawyer who will join our client’s young, collaborative, and dedicated team. Playing an essential role in the day-to-day legal needs of the team, this position includes a great compensation package and benefits, including stock options, and provides the opportunity to work closely with internal and external lawyers and directly with business stakeholders, supporting all aspects of a growing and dynamic business.

Responsibilities of the Legal Counsel include providing legal advice and performing legal work in areas including corporate/commercial, securities, M&A, and cannabis and liquor regulations. The individual will also be responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing the Legal Department’s processes to ensure compliance and overseeing and managing external counsel on litigation matters.

The role requires a minimum of 3-5 years of post-call experience obtained in-house or in private practice, and the candidate should be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or the Law Society of Alberta. This role is hybrid and available in our client’s Toronto or Edmonton office.
