In House Counsel – Yamana Gold

Yamana Gold Inc. is a Canadian-based gold producer with significant gold production, gold development stage properties, exploration properties and land positions throughout the Americas including Canada, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Yamana is headquartered in Toronto and listed on the Toronto and New York Stock Exchanges.

Yamana’s legal team is seeking to add another lawyer to its group. As the preferred candidate, you have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in private practice or in house with a strong background in corporate/commercial law, M&A, tax reorganizations and treasury department matters. To be considered, you will possess strong technical skills, sound judgement, practical business sense and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The selected candidate will enjoy a broad practice including reviewing and/or preparing commercial documents for different functional areas (including Corporate Development, Treasury, Information Technology and Tax), negotiating and ensuring compliance with credit and debt facilities,  M&A support, information technology support, proactively identifying and managing legal risks and alternative strategies, and helping in developing and implementing creative practical solutions to legal issues.  This position will also be responsible for interpreting Canadian federal and provincial legislation and regulations relevant to the business.

A demonstrated interest in mining or a related industry, as well as French, Spanish or Portuguese language skills, would be considered assets but are not required.
