A Collective of Exceptional Lawyers Flexing the Way We Practice Law.

Looking for a new way to practice law? Love the law but hate the hours? Need a flexible work arrangement? Flex Legal is looking to expand our network of freelance lawyers.

What is a freelance lawyer? A freelance lawyer only works for other lawyers or in-house legal departments and does not take on clients directly. Freelancing is ideal for many lawyers, including those seeking to practice part-time, need flexible work hours, or those who are re-entering the practice of law after a leave. Lawyers & firms hire Flex freelance lawyers for projects ranging from court appearances and litigation support to contract drafting and blog post writing – it’s not just document review! While Flex is located in Toronto, our freelance lawyers work virtually and are located across Ontario. For more information on what it means to be a freelance lawyer see the FAQ section on our website.

Interested candidates must have the “Flex Factors”:

  • preferably a minimum of 10 years of practice (however, we will consider newer calls with exceptional experience),
  • training at a top firm and / or in-house legal department,
  • an entrepreneurial spirit,
  • a commitment to excellence, and
  • an emphasis on quality client service.

If you have the Flex Factors, are eager to become a dedicated freelance lawyer, are in good standing with the LSUC (or other law society in Canada), and are interested in a flex{able} way to practice law, please send your c.v., cover letter, and a writing sample (ex. sample pleading, contract, opinion, blog post or article, etc.) to: info@flexlegalnetwork.com by September 1, 2017.

We are accepting applications from lawyers in all practice areas but have a particular need for lawyers with litigation or real estate experience. While we appreciate all applications, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Flex Legal Network

Flex Legal offers quality outsourced legal services to sole practitioners, law firms, or in-house departments, through its network of talented and experienced freelance lawyers, on a part-time, short-term contract, or project basis. Flex{ability} is at the core of our business: a flexible and alternative way to provide legal services by experienced and exceptional lawyers without the need for firms and in-house departments to incur additional overhead costs or sacrifice quality. We help our lawyer clients: meet tight transactional or litigation deadlines more easily; increase their profitability by minimising their costs; and meet resource demands by providing lawyers with specific expertise or to fill a gap left after a departure, when required.
