Employment Lawyer – 4+ years

This is a first opportunity in over 10 years for a 4+year experienced employment law associate to join our team for a 6 – 12-month contract with potential for an extension or permanent employment. As there is flexibility in the start date, reasonable vacation requests may be accommodated prior to start of employment. Ideal start date is mid August to beginning of September or earlier.

Ideal candidate requirements:

• a team player attitude with superior communication and interpersonal skills;
• strong knowledge of computer systems, software and technology skills – proficiency with MS Office 2013 is a must;
• intermediate knowledge of PCLaw is an asset;
• a member in good standing of LSUC and any other regulatory bodies;
• any practice brought in is welcomed but not necessary.

Responsibilities include:

• management of files from beginning to end and at various stages of negotiations and litigation;
• working independently and following instructions from senior counsel;
• extensive interaction with new and current clients and other counsel on files;
• effective management of deadlines and priorities;
• legal research and drafting of legal documents;
• docketing time using PCLaw;
• up to date knowledge and regular review and analysis of recent employment law decisions;
• participation in firm blog and marketing efforts.
