Assistant General Counsel – Bay Street Firm

Our client, a highly regarded Bay Street law firm, is looking to add an Assistant General Counsel (AGC) to its exceptional team.

This role works closely with the General Counsel and one other AGC, the Risk Management Committee, lawyers and other stakeholders, to assess and manage risk for the firm. The new AGC will address issues relating to conflicts of interests, client terms of engagement, cyber security, information governance, the rules of professional conduct and other matters of ethics and professional responsibility. The AGC will also develop internal policies and procedures on risk management, design and deliver training, provide guidance to lawyers in all offices, research risks of new technologies (including AI), and more.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of practice experience in a large law firm environment, excellent judgment, superior legal research and writing capabilities, strong client service orientation, the ability to communicate effectively to a broad audience, a strong work ethic, an aptitude for technology, and strong leadership, relationship, collaboration, and consultation skills. Litigation experience and fluency in French will be considered assets.
