Bencher election 2015
I believe diversity and access to justice are the two most pressing issues facing the legal profession today.
April 20, 2015
I believe the most important issues facing the legal profession are access to justice and diversity.
For over a decade, everything I have done professionally has related to advancing access to justice and diversity in the legal profession. As a Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court I help address impacts on diverse litigants who cannot afford legal advice or representation. As counsel to the Class Proceedings Fund of the Law Foundation of Ontario, I help ensure that people with meritorious claims receive the funding they need to vigorously pursue them. As former President of the Schlifer Clinic and current Vice-Chair and Treasurer of the Human Rights Legal Support Centre I have led organizations which provide free legal services to some of the most marginalized and vulnerable people in our society, many of whom do not speak English. These organizations pride themselves on their diversity.
In addition to demonstrated passion for access to justice, service to the profession and to the public interest, I bring the professional maturity and diverse skills necessary to make an impact.
If you support the kinds of things I stand for, please support me with your vote.
