We are pleased to announce that Duncan Fraser is Vice-President and Senior Legal Counsel of Wortzmans.
April 10, 2015
Duncan is one of Canada’s leading e-discovery lawyers. He is joining Wortzmans to provide strategic legal advice to law firms, corporations and government regarding e-discovery, litigation readiness and information governance.
Duncan incorporates cost containment and risk management principles into his legal advice, and has been recognized for his contribution to both efficiency and quality in e-discovery projects. He is a frequent lecturer, panelist and trainer on e-discovery topics and on the legal, financial and operational risks of institutional information practices. He is a member of the Sedona Canada Working Group 7, and led many Federal Government working and practice groups on e-discovery and litigation readiness.
Before joining Wortzmans, Duncan was General Counsel and Director of eDiscovery and National Litigation Support Services for the Federal Department of Justice, in Ottawa. He has 19 years of litigation experience, with a practice including class actions, mass tort, civil fraud, business and regulatory law, environmental law, privacy law and aboriginal law. Duncan played a leadership role in building the Federal Government’s e-discovery and litigation readiness capacity and in managing the Litigation Branch’s e-litigation, evidence management, and litigation support services teams. As Director of the Justice information@justice program from 2012, he was instrumental in developing an information governance strategy, designed to transform the business of the department through new ways of working, using modern, digital tools to securely create, share, leverage and manage information across the organization.
We are pleased to have him assume a leadership role in our firm.
