Hicks Morley, Canada’s largest human resources law firm, is pleased to announce that Craig Rix has been appointed Managing Partner effective January 1, 2021. He follows Stephen Shamie who held the role for 18 years and who announced that he was stepping down earlier this summer.
“We are excited about the opportunity that comes with renewal and the possibilities that Craig’s leadership presents,” said Shamie. “Craig has been a member of the firm’s executive for over nine years and has established a reputation for thoughtful leadership, exceptional client service and active engagement within the legal, public sector and business community.”
Rix becomes the firm’s fifth managing partner in its 48-year history. “As we look to the past and future of the firm, one thing remains constant – we have a terrific team of people who work hard every day at providing the best service and legal advocacy advice to our clients across the country. I am grateful for having had the privilege of being part of our firm’s growth and development over the last 18 years. I look forward to working with Craig on a seamless transition and then returning to full-time practice as a partner in the firm.”
On news of his appointment to Managing Partner, Craig said, “I firmly believe that Hicks Morley has the best and the brightest lawyers and staff in the country. I am honoured to have been selected to help guide our group into the future, in particular as we partner with our clients to respond to a global pandemic and the opportunity that social change presents for employers.”
