Director, Student Program & Legal Recruitment

Have you been practicing or practiced for at least 3 years and feel like it’s time for a change?  Want to be part of recruiting and developing the best legal talent in the market and help set them up for success?  Join the legal talent team at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, Canada’s premier business law firm, as the Director, Student Program & Legal Recruitment where together with an amazing group of people you will be responsible for running the Toronto student program and lead the office’s legal recruitment initiatives.

Working closely with the Student Committee and the Chief Legal Talent Officer, you will have responsibility for the development, implementation and management of student programs including recruitment initiatives and events; onboarding and orientation; mentoring programs and employment relations; as well as performance management and law school relations.  You will also be responsible for overseeing and managing the legal talent recruitment pipeline.

What you have:

  • An LLB with a minimum of 3 years practice experience in Canada in a large firm or professional services context
  • Experience with recruitment, mentoring and firm management activities
  • A deep respect for people and their goals, enthusiasm, and a growth and continuous improvement mindset 

What you will bring:

  • Understanding and commitment to D&I principles and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully network, build and maintain relationships and rapport
  • Excellent judgement and decision-making skills with the ability to address sensitive topics with discretion and diplomacy
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and build consensus across multiple stakeholders
  • Goal oriented with proven project management and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and facilitate small, medium and large-scale initiatives
  • Exceptional communication, time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
