A career in our Corporate Law practice, within Legal Services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients adopt a more strategic approach to global entity governance across their organisations. We help our clients and their legal entities with the incorporation of new companies, on going compliance with local legislation, and restructuring of their global businesses to manage governance and compliance risks.

Our team possess extensive knowledge of local and national corporate law. You will help our clients with a range of legal services including provision of support in choosing the type of company, drafting of corporate documents, contracts and the necessary assistance in the performance thereof, setting up companies, structuring capital, restructuring corporate governance, implementing changes to the legal structure, setting up joint ventures, and managing tax and real estate issues.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assist in the management of several clients, while reporting to Managers and above
  • Train and lead staff
  • Establish effective working relationships directly with clients
  • Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen
  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues
  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients
  • Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand

We are seeking a corporate associate to join our PwC Law team in the Halifax office. Our practice is

centered on international tax and corporate law with a focus on inbound into Canada from North

America, including international business reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, tax advisory and

corporate implementation. We work in collaboration with PricewatherhouseCoopers LLP (Canada) and

the PwC international network, to bring integrated, high quality tax planning and corporate solutions to

our clients. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to work with national and international

clients and advisors seamlessly from a home base in Halifax! We pride ourselves on a team-based,

collaborative approach designed for optimal mentorship and development. We are a high functioning

team that strives to deliver top quality legal services in an innovative manner. The successful candidate

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience in corporate/commercial practice
  • A license to practice (preference for Nova Scotia and/or Ontario)
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong analytical, communication, drafting and writing skills
  • Must be self-motivated with a genuine desire to learn the law
  • Willingness to participate in team-based initiatives for growth and development and to

    implement innovation in our delivery of services

  • Comfortable with using and learning technology
  • Willingness to use our team project management tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines
  • Interest in working collaboratively as part of a team
