Corporate Counsel, 5-7 Years

ALT Recruitment Partners has been engaged by a successful private business to lead the search for the company’s first in-house Corporate Counsel. Headquartered in Brampton, Ontario, the company has operations globally and is consistently recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with a dotted line to the management board, the Corporate Counsel will provide legal advice and expertise to a broad range of internal clients and senior management. The ideal candidate will have between 5 to 7 years of corporate/commercial experience gained from a corporate law firm or in-house legal department. In the role of Corporate Counsel, the successful candidate will independently manage multiple complex initiatives, successfully negotiate and draft commercial contracts, and provide day-to-day advice on matters such as employment contracts, real estate, M&A, and compliance.

Applicants must be in good standing with the Ontario Bar. Although not essential, preference will be given to candidates who are also qualified to practice law in a jurisdiction within the United States.
