The City of Markham is seeking an Assistant City Solicitor with planning and development experience to join its collegial team. Reporting to the City Solicitor, you will provide legal advice on complex development issues, negotiate and draft a wide variety of agreements related to development and construction, and provide advice to Council and senior management. As an Assistant City Solicitor, you will also represent the City at the Ontario Municipal Board, Conservation Review Board hearings and other litigation, particularly in relation to construction and development.

The ideal candidate will have 4 to 8 years of experience with planning and development matters, including experience appearing before the Ontario Municipal Board, as well as a strong understanding of zoning matters. The successful candidate will also have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the proven ability to manage sensitive issues.
