Evan Nuttall joins Smart & Biggar, Canada’s leading firm for intellectual property law, adding to the depth and breadth of the firm’s IP Litigation practice group.

Based in Calgary, Evan’s practice is focused exclusively on complex litigation matters including infringement actions relating to patents, licensing, trademarks, copyright and industrial designs. Known as extremely diligent and capable, Evan uses his practical knowledge of business objectives to provide solid strategic advice and act as a forceful advocate on behalf of his clients. Colleagues have described him as a “devastating” force in the courtroom, and as “passionately advancing his client’s position while at the same time bringing a practical approach to the litigation” (Lawyers.com). As a result, Evan is sought after by some of the leading players in the energy, oil and manufacturing sectors.

Recognized for his finely honed advocacy skills, Evan has been honoured regularly by top publications including Lexpert, Best Lawyers and Benchmark Litigation.

Prior to his legal career in Canada, Evan practiced in England as a barrister and is a member of the Bar of England and Wales. He has appeared before the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal in Canada, and the Court of Appeal of England and Wales.
